We integrate functional fitness to train your muscles to help you do everyday activities safely and efficiently. Uptown’s classes are for anyone of any fitness level. We believe the best path to improving personal health and fitness is training the entire body to improve daily activity and help live a long and productive life. We have a wide variety of brand new equipment including the latest from TRX, HIIT Mills, and a good variety of Rogue equipment to use. We have invested our many years of experience designing our facility and classes to facilitate the best fitness training in Alaska. 



My name is Adam Dodson, I'm currently attending UAA and finishing up with my degree. My degree is in physical education, with a minor in nutrition. My desire to become a physical fitness trainer is inspired by my Marine Corps training and beliefs. I believe the world will test all of us in a physical manner and I believe strength training can prepare you for the curve balls life can give you. I believe in knowing your body and how to use it to your full potential because it’s becoming less and less of a necessity to our society. I preach about mind/muscle connection and the control of the movement. Aside of proper nutrition, time under tension is the biggest muscle-building factor out there. I care about my home because this is where I’m from and would enjoy teaching you my method because it’s all about making a positive change in your community, which you ALL are my community here at Uptown Athletic. So lets get started!

Hello and welcome! I'm so happy you took a moment of your time to read my bio. I promise I won't talk your ear off :). A little bit about me: I was born and raised in Carlsbad, New Mexico, and joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after high school. In 2015 I retired from the Marines and moved to the beautiful state of Alaska to attend the University of Alaska Anchorage. I'm currently seeking a degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Health and Fitness Leadership and Nutrition.

My philosophy is simple: Everybody matters, and so does every body. I'm a proponent of multi-level health, wellness, and fitness. I believe that as a health/wellness/fitness coach, I should strive to help people realize their full potential by achieving a higher level of well-being, performance, and physical fitness. I believe it's important to form a growth-promoting relationship that inspires self-motivation, elicits the idea of change, and facilitates these processes through goal setting, accountability, and visioning. My overall goal is to be known for promoting a positive and lasting change in people's lives.

My clients and CrossFit athletes describe me as an inspiring, motivating, and positive coach, and while I can agree that's true, you can also expect me to push you outside of your comfort zone to a point where you might even just hate me a little. ;)
